How My Toothache Caused My Breakthrough

I have a TON of things to do today, but the pain in my right molar cares nothing about my “To Do’s” and has forcefully demanded that I pop a pain pill and turn in early tonight.

(Great, right? That means even more things to do tomorrow. πŸ™„)

Sadly, I could have avoided this kind of pain if only I had put my fear in check and headed off to the dentist the FIRST time I felt the dull ache in my tooth. (Yea, like 6 months ago…)

But for some unwarranted reason the FEAR that I have for visiting my Dentist, convinced me to wait and focus on more “important things” instead of taking care of a big part of my health and wellness…

(And might I add that my Dentist is totally amazing and gentle. Plus, she’s an awesome Sunday School Teacher!)

Nevertheless, here I am suffering and paying the costs (more pain, bigger dental bills, and time in bed) all because I waited too long and refused to acknowledge the signs.

So why am I sharing this with you?

Well, in hopes my hiccup can spark a different kind of dialogue within you relating to your own life…

Perhaps there are some things you’re putting off because of fear, uncertainty, or being OK with the familiarity of a “dull ache”… Maybe in your finances, relationships, moods, etc….

Is there an area of your life that you have been putting on the back burner, toying with, or making excuses for because the pain isn’t that bad yet?

What signs to ACT have disavowed, ignored, or dismissed?

As I contemplated these questions to myself, the Lord impressed upon me how my tendency to “wait until it hurts TOO MUCH” is showing up in other areas of my life.

And that with this NEW SEASON, it’s time for New Decisions! … New Choices! … New Actions! …

Putting things off don’t serve me.
Bowing to fear don’t serve me.
Ignoring the signs don’t serve me.

In fact, those things only exacerbates my suffering.

That’s why It’s time for a New Way. Starting today.

Hope this blesses you.
